Jira Integration

Connect your Jira Cloud account to import issues, sync statuses, and manage work from Sunsama.

Installation

  1. Go to Settings > Jira integration or open Jira in your workspace’s right panel.
  2. Click Add Jira account and grant the requested permissions.
  3. If your Atlassian account has multiple sites, select which one to integrate.

You can add multiple Jira accounts by repeating the process. Use the avatar icon in the top right to switch between connected accounts.

Browsing and importing issues

Open Jira using the keyboard shortcut Shift J to access the integration panel.

Changing accounts: Click your profile icon in the top right corner to switch between connected accounts or sites.

Browsing projects: Click the project dropdown to view your issues. Use preset filters like “Assigned to me” or access your Jira Favorite Filters. Custom JQL queries are also supported.

Creating custom filters: Build searches in Jira, save them, and mark as favorites. These will appear in Sunsama’s filter list.

Importing issues: Three methods:

  • Drag cards onto your task list
  • Drop them on your calendar for timeboxing
  • Use the “Add to today” button or press S from the preview

Filtering previously imported issues: Toggle “Already imported” in the Filter menu to show or hide previously imported items.

Interacting with imported tasks

Once imported, Jira issues become Sunsama tasks with embedded Jira data. Click the Jira icon or press G to view the issue in Jira.

Your Sunsama task serves as a worksheet — add notes, time tracking, subtasks, and comments separately from your Jira issue.

You can import the same Jira issue multiple times with different titles to track specific daily work segments.

Status syncing

Sunsama updates Jira issue status when you complete associated tasks. A dialog appears allowing status changes. This can be disabled in Settings > Jira integration.

Troubleshooting

If Jira loads correctly in one app (desktop or web) but not both, try:

  1. Remove your Jira account from Sunsama
  2. Log out of all sessions
  3. Sign back in
  4. Reconnect your account
